We used to think that a 100,000 points offer was the pinnacle of Amex largesse, but, my-oh-my, have times changed. Amex has now blown the roof off its previous highs with yet another massive targeted offer for the Business Platinum card that also has no lifetime language (NLL). This means that even cardholders who have already had (or currently have) the Business Platinum are eligible for the welcome offer.
This targeted Business Platinum offer is the best points per dollar of spend proposition that we’ve ever seen for the card itself, offering 200,000 Membership Rewards (MR) points for $15,000 spend with an additional 5,000 points for spending $1,000 on an employee card needed.
I thought that we were starting to see these insane targeted offers from Amex begin to peter out. My goodness, was I wrong.
The link below came from a targeted pop-up that appeared on my wife’s account today (she was just approved for a third Business Platinum a couple of months ago). It requires you to log-in first and then click the link to find out if you’re targeted.
The Offer
- American Express has a new targeted, no lifetime language offer for the Business Platinum card that gives 200,000 Membership Rewards points after $15K spend in the first three months. In addition, adding an employee card and spending $1,000 within the first three months provides an additional 5,000 points.
Click here for the 200,000 Membership Rewards Business Platinum offer
You must log into your Amex account first, then click the “apply now” link on the pre-approval landing page.
If, after clicking “apply now,” you see the message below or see a screen with no offer listed, it means you’re not targeted. If you get a pop-up telling you that you are not eligible for the welcome offer, you aren’t.

Quick Thoughts
Over the last two years, Amex has been plying us with wave after wave of bigger and better NLL offers for the Business Platinum and Business Gold cards, but this one sets a new ceiling. It’s the first time we’ve seen a 200K MR bonus on one card and the fact that we’re seeing it with no increased spending requirements from the public 120K offer is incredible.
This is obviously a terrific welcome offer if you can use the card and make the spend. Without even considering the additional perks and credits, this targeted offer will end up being worth around ~$3200 based on our Reasonable Redemption Values for Membership Rewards. For one card. That’s absolute bonkers.
Keep in mind that both the Business Platinum Dell and airline credits reset on the calendar year. This means that in the first year of card membership, you can get 3x Dell credits and 2x airline incidentals, adding an additional ~$400 in first year value if you only pay the annual fee once. While the various perks and credits on Amex cards can feel a little “coupon booky,” I find it pretty easy to get full advantage of these two and the wireless service credit as well.

I was able to get the offer for P2 in incognito mode on Google Chrome desktop. Hopefully it’s still available in a couple of months when tuition payments are due.
Congrats on being targeted. Remember, you have 3 months to meet the spend, so if tuition payments fall within that time frame you can jump on it earlier.
What if you do not currently have an American Express account? How can you find out if you qualify to receive the targeted offer? Do you need to open a business checking account?
This is specifically targeted to folks that already have an account, I don’t believe that there’s a way to apply without logging in. Having any kind of Amex CC would enable you to log-in.
Is this card valuable for people who don’t travel internationally?
Not sure if you’re referring to the Membership Rewards that you’d earn with the card or the card itself. Also, if you’re wondering about domestic travel or for ways to redeem points without travel.
In terms of the card itself, things that could be valuable depending on how often you travel domestically :$200 a year in statement credits for airline incidental fees (select one qualifying airline and then receive up to $200 in statement credits per calendar year for qualifying charges) ⚬ Priority Pass membership (Lounges only) with 2 guests and other airport lounge benefits (Centurion and Delta) ⚬ Rental car elite status ⚬ Marriott Gold status ⚬ Hilton Gold status. ⚬ $189 CLEAR fee reimbursement annually (cover the cost of a CLEAR membership with up to $189 in statement credits per calendar year when you charge your CLEAR membership to your Business Platinum card) ⚬ 35% Airline Bonus: Get 35% points back after you Pay With Points for flights with your selected airline (or premium cabin with any airline). Enrollment required for select benefits
In terms of Membership Rewards, check out our guide here. The highest value rewards will almost always be international business class, but you can transfer them directly to Delta, use international partners to book domestic awards or, most easily, use them at 1.5cents each to book domestic first with any airline or domestic economy with your chose airline.
I’m eligible but there’s no way I can meet the spend… But I’ll see if my sister in law is eligible, she’s building a house and racking up the points right now
you could just give her your card…
exactly
I would but I’ve gotten her hooked on this game too… I can’t take points away from her
Tried three different accounts on two different browsers… all of them say preapproved, then when I login, it says the offer is expired.
The pre-approval is just the landing page for the offer. You don’t know if you’re targeted until you log-in and click the “apply now” button.
I think that is what the person above has done. I just tried it and then when I click on “Apply Now” it says the offer has expired.
I got an offer for 250K in the mail, but I thew it away thinking you couldn’t have more than 1 open at a time. Dangit.
I would’ve went dumpster diving!
This is probably a really dumb question but where do I click once in my account to see if I’m targeted?
open your account in one tab and then click the link above in a second tab. It will know that you are signed in.
If I currently have an active Amex business platinum card, is it possible to apply for this and have two business platinum cards?
You can have multiples at the same time. I currently have 3 open. I think it is ~90 days between approvals, so if you have applied before Feb 25 you should probably be fine to try again. I am kind of unfortunate that my current card was opened at the beginning of April on a 150K offer, but this 200K offer is not showing for me anyway.
Awesome, thanks for the data point!
[…] Frequent Miler just highlighted a great targeted offer with ( no lifetime limit language ) for the American Express Business Platinum. The offer is 200k membership rewards after $15k spend in 3 months. You need to check to see if you’re targeted by logging in, which you can do here , but I would add that Amex is known to clawback points and even freeze accounts if they think you’re manipulating the system. R.I.P. Tina Turner and the Amex 200k offer
It shows expired when I log in and follow the link.
Say Tim, unless I’ve missed it nobody at FM has covered the Plastiq bankruptcy. Any thoughts?
Same. Using the link after logging in it says “Congratulations you are preapproved” but hit the Apply button = ‘We are sorry. This offer is no longer available”. message
Tried incognito and different P2 Amex login. Same thing.

To me the pinnacle was the one I got last year for 150K points + 10x on dining up to $25K. Happened to coincide with several large corporate dinners I charged and got over 400K points as bonuses in 6 months.
Like a boss, yo!! 🙂
Definitely a good offer, but not the best. The best one ever was the 125k + 15x on restaurants/shop small on the Amex plat. That gave 500k points in a little under 6 months.
How long do these offers typically last? I’m very enticed but need to plan ahead to meet the 15K requirement. Can I wait a month? 2 months?
Apparently not. Like the other posters, above, my promising eligibility page crumbled to dust as soon as I tried to apply.
For other offers, there is often an end date. I don’t see one on this one, which is probably a tell.

It depends, some stick around for months, some for a couple weeks. It’s difficult to tell. I’d check to see if you’re targeted first to know if you even need to worry about it.
